February Thoughts

"Love a little, smile a little."

First post of the year and it's in February! Good job, Sarah. Good job.

Eh, I guess when I post doesn't matter as long as I don't totally abandon my blog like...I...have...in the past. Anyway, I've recently got more inspiration to write up a mishmash of random thoughts that've been swirling around in my head since 2016 ended. And maybe I'll do proper lengthy single posts for the things listed here later.

I just found myself super super into using products that do not test on animals recently. Wait, maybe not recently, I started sort of around mid last year I would think and I'm doing my best to consciously make decisions to only buy skincare/makeup/body care products that are cruelty-free and have the leaping bunny logo on its packaging. Though I'm not a vegetarian myself nor am I not into not eating meat, I thought that if I could protect animals in my own small way, then it would be worth it. To be honest, I would be a vegan if I could but I am not the biggest fan of the taste of vegetables (minus potatoes and cucumbers of course). Therefore, this is my small contribution and way to showing love towards the animal community. AH, also, I've been super into more natural and organic-y made products, especially in the skincare department, which means loads of DIY concoctions that have gotten me feeling like a little old potion making witch.

Btw, if anyone wants to know more about what brands are cruelty-free, I totally recommend this website (plus, it's really cute!): ✾. ✿. ❀. ❁. ❃.

You know what makes a good start to the day? An amazing breakfast. *Cough* Says the girl who's diet basically consists of chocolate and chips. For some reason, two days ago, it clicked in my mind that I really need to get a hold of myself and fix my nasty diet. It's not that I am completely stuffing myself with chips and crisps and sweets everyday, I do actually eat quite a lot of fruits if said fruits are available in the fridge, but a look at two out of my list of Instagram favourites'

&

feed made me want to have meals as beautiful and healthy as they do. So far, all I've done in this cleaning-my-diet activity is buying muesli from a random little market stall which was totally out of luck by the way. I was just walking past and the owner offered me a spoon of their palm sugar muesli and I was just totally into it and so was my brother. The muesli I usually see in the supermarket always has bits of dried berries in it and I hate the texture of dried fruits in general so they never really made me want to grab one of the shelf, but now I've got one that is basically:

-dried fruits
+walnuts
+almonds
+sunflower seed

= total goodness

I restarted my language learning journey and made it my goal to get myself to be able to at least have proper conversations with people in their native languages. Basically all I've done since I was younger regarding language is listening to lessons on Youtube or reading up grammar and vocabulary on the internet, and spending money on books and never really testing it out by talking to other people. So, the language I was learning quickly disappeared from my brain as time went on and other things took over my priorities.

Well, part of the goal of being able to converse with natives of other languages was just achieved last Friday, when I rediscovered a language exchange app called HelloTalk which enables people looking to learn languages to be actually taught by and have conversations with people native to the language they are learning. I used to use the app when I was learning German in 2015 (I think?) but currently I'm using it for Japanese and it has really been a tremendous help on my Japanese skills because having chats with actual Japanese people really forces me to use my current knowledge + loads of web searches to be able to construct sort of partially so-so understandable sentences. Plus, if you ever get anything wrong, other users have the ability to correct your sentences with the feature on the app and just UGH BASICALLY ITS A REALLY GREAT APP I TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT FOR ANYBODY WHO'S INTO LEARNING ANOTHER LANGUAGE.

Anywaaaaaay, it's currently 6.41pm, the sky is morphing into a dark blue-y purple mixture and I have homework to do so till the next post (which I hope won't be in like March or something lol) xx
