Hello loves x
Oh wow, as usual I'm going to start this post with a "I realize I haven't posted in a long time..." but today I'll switch it up and say it this way instead.
Anyway, how is everyone? How's July been? Has August been treating you guys well these past few days? I hope so.
I've been doing good myself. I've actually gotten more active in college activities lately, in which case I just joined clubs (finally...) which are futsal, rotaract, music and the animal welfare society. I've been wanting to join some since I entered but express intake A-levels forbade any free time from getting into our ink stained hands. But ay, better later than never right?
We just got done with the first meeting today for the Rotaract club which by the way is a volunteer society type thing (?) where we do charity work and help kids and other stuff along those lines which is pretty nice (literally speaking). They have this long term program too where we get to help refugee kids in their studies and the volunteers would be split into 4 categories depending on the subject they'd be teaching. Funnily enough science and Malay were grouped together and I thought it was kind of random at first but I was totally up for teaching primary level Science since I used to love the subject....till they said it was in Malay. That's when I instantly decided "well, nope." because I don't want to be held responsible for kids failing their Science studies because of their bad-in-translating teacher. So, I decided to sign up as another type of member instead who did the preparation work instead. Hopefully, it'd be really enjoyable.
Speaking of college activities though, I have AS trials coming up in two weeks and I'm kinda stressing out internally. I've been really wanting to study lately but whenever I come home after a whole day of classes, I think to myself "wow, I really deserve a break." and then I sit here on my laptop as I am right at this moment of time. What a perfect real time example.
The thing about A-Levels is that once you reach the middle part of the whole program, you get confused really easily because you need to study for your AS exams but at the same time, you're learning new A2 stuff in daily classes and if you're me, you're constantly unsure of which is which and end up revising A2 stuff when I really should be studying my AS topics. Today, I have two psychology essay to finish which I doubt would take me 20 minutes to finish. Who in the right mind in CIE decided that all the allotted time for the papers are within our capability?? Because I'm always finding myself either short of time or leaving the exam hall with shaky and sore hands.
Anyway anyway, this alternative study thing is something I'm trying to get the hang of but kinda still struggling in. I thought it would've been easy for me to just make up some random study based on whatever one they give me but I thought wrong. It's quite the challenge just trying to figure out how you're going to do the study, let alone write it in a full blown essay in 10 minutes. Mine is to do one based on Bandura's study of aggression in young children. It's basically done to see whether if a model projects aggressive behaviour, would the children imitate them even without them in sight. Most kids do by the way, so side note, don't act stupidly in front of children because they really do pick up whatever they observe.
Moral of today's blog post is: Teach your children to be well-mannered, accepting of people of other races, religions and cultures, and curious without the power to offend anyone.
xx
